I’m back from New York
January 19, 2009 – 3:33 pm

I was in New York City last weekend doing some architectural photos for a company I’ve done work for in the past. I may post a couple of those photos in the near future.
On another note, the DNS has switched over so you’re now viewing the site on the new servers… If you tried sending me an email today anytime in the past 4 hours, it may not have gone through so try sending it again.

Meet Lindsay.
Lindsay was in town on vacation with her family for the holidays so we met up to shoot some senior portraits. These are just a couple of my favorites. Click the link to see more and let me know what you think…

Dinner in the Sky
December 9, 2008 – 4:26 pm
Or should we call it “wedding in the Sky”
I know, I know… It’s been way too long since I’ve posted anything new. Bad blogger, bad. But I have good reason; I’ve been busier than ever before. I’ve shot some features and covers for a couple magazines (more on this in another post), shot an event for Forbes magazine (on their yacht!), and quite a few portrait sessions (again, more on this in another post). But one of the coolest projects I’ve worked on was Dinner in the Sky.

This was the official debut of Dinner in the Sky in the U.S. and it was held at the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek, Fl. I had the privilege of being the official photographer for Dinner in the Sky. This thing is amazing. It holds 22 passengers and reaches heights of up to 180 feet in the air! That’s 18 stories in the air! Good thing I’m not afraid of heights.
Originally I was only going to be there Thursday and Friday photographing the event but late Friday night I received a call from Mike with Dinner in the Sky. He said “Listen, somebody saw this on the news and wants to get married up there tomorrow! We need you to come back here and shoot this thing”. A wedding 170 feet in the air?!? Oh I’m in…
So I showed up Saturday morning only to find out that they wanted to put me on the roof of the casino. I talked it over for a while with Mike and Heather and explained that the roof was kind of far away and I would be shooting into the sun. After a while, Mike had the idea of bringing in a second crane to lift me up there next to the table. Holy crap, you mean I’m going to be lifted up that high in a little basket?!? Oh I’m totally in.
I quickly started working out how to get the best shot from 170 feet in the air. I set up a single flash above where the bride and groom would be standing, knowing full well that I would have no way of changing the power setting on the flash. But that didn’t matter because the wedding was at sunset and I could set the light and wait for the ambient light to fall into place. It worked perfectly! Take a look through the photos and let me know what you think in the comments!

Finally, I have to thank Mike from Dinner in the Sky for taking these awesome shots of me up on the second crane during the wedding! That was a lot of fun!

Fall Engagement Session
October 21, 2008 – 4:26 pm
I love the fall! Everything about it from the cool air to the clear skies and the leaves on the ground. Unfortunately, living in South Florida, we don’t get to have a fall season. We don’t have any trees down here that lose their leaves. We do get some slightly cooler weather, but the good stuff doesn’t come for a couple more months. Well, last weekend Nikki and I did some traveling…
During our travels, I got to shoot an engagement session in Ohio for this awesome couple. Megan is one of the sweetest girls I know and Dan is such a great guy. I’m really happy for them. Let me know what you think of the photos!
Congratulations to Dan and Megan!
